The State Department’s first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Amb. Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley, stepped down from her role at the end of June. However, she said that the department’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility work will outlast any attempts to roll back these programs. Specifically, she said workforce data helps leadership pinpoint where and how the department is falling short of its goals, and how to get the agency on the right track.
